Dear Jenny,

You came to visit me today and took my picture lots! I don't blame you really. You also took off my shoes- I owe you big time for that one.. Once you took off those ugly shoes and trimmed my feet for me I felt a lot better- sorry I gave you such a hard time.. I realize now I look so much prettier! After that you soaked my feet in these really cool boots (I think my mom even took a picture!), and then you put on my casts and easy boots. I just wanted to say thank you for spending your whole afternoon in the cold barn with me.

Love, Story.

ps here I am looking dashing in Jenny's boots!

my neat little casts!

reppin' easy boots!

The Changes

First things first- Mare arrived home today!
Secondly- Mare has been named Story.

Story was a completely different horse today when we picked her up, she was running in her field, tolerant of shipping boots and a head bumper, she was excited to see us and was more than happy to just hop on the trailer! She spent about 30 minutes in the barn once we got her home so everyone could hang out with her and we could take off all of her gear. She pinned her ears at the odd person but nothing like 2 days ago when I met her.

We are starting her on an "emergency diet". It will consist of; soaked beet pulp (NO molasses), ground flax, vitamin E, iodized salt and a mixture of minerals. Everything needs to be low in sugar, yet still allow her to get all her essential horsie needs! Jenny, her farrier, will be coming for a visit soon so I will update with pictures and a prognosis of her feet.

First Meeting

It was decided today that we will take on Mare (NAME STILL PENDING!) as a rescue project. I only found out about Mare two days ago, and met her today. She is a fuzzy, sore footed, pasture puff right now- we are hoping to change that. She has quite the attitude as well.. As long as you have food in your hands her ears are forward and she is eager to be your friend, once she is finished with your offerings her ears are pinned and it shouldn't shock you if she charges!

These are the first pictures of Mares feet- I am not sure when they were taken but as soon as she is home I will take more to track her progress. She is suffering from laminitis/founder and we are hoping that with correct trimming we can bring her back to being a sound, healthy horse.
